Knot for Keeps is a small business established by Jo-Ann MacNeil, a mother of three dancing daughters. Jo-Ann earned a degree in Home Economics with a major in Textiles and Design from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and has always had a keen interest in sewing and handwork. Jo-Ann has been sewing professionally since 1982 and has an expertise in Irish dancing dresses.

Sewing solo dresses for her own daughters led to making school dresses, show dresses, and finally solo dresses for others. She makes dresses to sell "off the rack" (often original designs) or will make dresses to order.
